The Greek Goddess Athena was the patron God and protector of Ancient Athens. Athena was born from the forehead of Zeus. The primary attributes of Athena were that she was recognized by her followers as the Goddess of wisdom and war, but she also had may other attributes. The symbols she upheld were the Aegis (shield) and the owl . Her gift to the ancient world was the olive tree, which the ancient Greeks used for food, oil, and wood for construction projects. The ancient Greeks loved the gifts she bestowed upon them and named their city "Athens" in honor of her name. They also built the Parthenon on the highest point of the Acropolis in a gesture to be closer to the goddess. It was once said, that as long as you have Athena on your side you will always emerge victorious! Yes, Sweet Victory! |
